Volatile Binding Media*
*Evaporating, wax-like solid substance. Can be used as a temporary, water-resistant and protective cover on all sorts of surfaces.
Several substances evaporate, i.e. sublime, like ice, without melting. If you don't cover them, they sublime and disappear without any residue. Volatile binding media are wax-like, meltable hydrocarbons. They develop enough vapor pressure to sublime at room-temperature.
From the great number of substances which all have these basic characteristics we only found few to be suitable for practical application. Anything harmful to health or environment was excluded. In addition we discarded all substances which change through chemical reactions or which can change into insoluble forms.
Of the available substances cyclododecane (CCD) surely is the most important offering the widest range of applicability.
Spray cans offer a form for immediate use. All other application forms require special preparation.
